ANIMAL CRUELTY
The estimates are that there are 60 million households in the United
States who have one or more pets. These pets are considered to be companions
and family members.
Chances are if an animal is being abused and there is a child in that
household then the child is also being abused.
There is overwhelming evidence to show that human abusers, murderers
or violent criminals began their abuse first with their own pets.
Sadly, some dogs are forced to live in puppy mills for their entire
lives. They are kept there for one reason only: to produce more puppies.
Repeatedly bred, many of these dogs are killed once their reproductive
capacity wanes.
Last year, more than 90,000 American horses were either killed at one
of three U.S. slaughterhouses for export or shipped to Canada or Mexico
for slaughter.
Nonhuman (chimpanzees, monkeys, lemurs and others) primates cannot be
kept humanely in private homes. As they grow, their strength and aggressive
tendencies can become dangerous. Sadly, many nonhuman primate pets end
up abused or neglected. Additionally, nonhuman primates can spread dangerous
diseases such as herpes-b, yellow fever, monkey pox, Ebola and Marburg
virus.
"Canned hunts," is the abhorrent practice of confining tame, exotic
animals in an enclosed space and shooting them at close range for entertainment
and trophies...
A Texas canned hunting operation owner has come up with what he thinks
is a sure-fire money maker: He has hooked up a gun to the Internet,
so that people can kill captive exotic animals from miles away at the comfort
of their own computer...
